Foundation History

Montreal Turkish Cultural Centre

The Montreal Turkish Cultural Centre was founded in 1991 in Montreal, Canada. Yunus Mosque, which has been an integral part of the foundation since its establishment, is also Montreal’s first Turkish mosque.

In the following years, as Montreal’s Turkish community grew and interest in the services provided by our foundation increased, a decision was made to acquire a new building to better serve the community. Following extensive research and planning, a new facility was purchased in 2001 to meet the community’s growing needs. This building remains our current centre and serves as a multipurpose facility.

In subsequent years, an apartment building was also acquired in addition to our existing cultural centre. The residential units in this building provide accommodation for visitors, religious officials, and educators.

The Montreal Turkish Cultural Centre organizes a wide variety of activities covering different areas of interest. These activities are designed to meet the needs of our community members.

Core Values

The Montreal Turkish Cultural Centre and Yunus Mosque, which is part of our foundation, provide a welcoming space for our community to gather and strengthen social bonds.

The Montreal Turkish Cultural Centre continues its activities with the same dedication and commitment to serving our community as it did on the day it was founded.

Our Mission

Our weekend school, operating under our foundation, was established to provide our children with basic Turkish language and religious education, teach them about our traditions and customs, help them understand the values and importance of our community, and prepare them for the future with greater confidence. Children attending our school are taught in separate classes according to their age groups and levels of knowledge.

In addition to celebrating religious and national holidays, our foundation organizes a variety of social and cultural activities. These include folk dance groups, sewing and embroidery courses, Turkish language courses for adults, a theatre club, conferences, meetings, and special events such as weddings and engagement ceremonies.
