A Centre for Culture, Faith, and Solidarity in Montreal
Living in Canada and being part of a different culture and society does not mean losing touch with our roots. As the Turkish community living in Quebec, we value passing on our Turkish language, culture, traditions, and beliefs to future generations while being part of Canada’s multicultural society.
Our community, centred around Yunus Mosque, is more than just a place of worship. It is a centre where people from different generations come together, children and young people receive education in the Turkish language, culture, and religion, and social solidarity and community ties are strengthened.
Here, we aim to bring together newcomers from Türkiye to Quebec, those who have lived in Canada for many years, and younger generations born and raised here. While preserving our cultural heritage and spiritual values, we believe in adapting to the society we live in and actively contributing to it as part of the community.
It is very important to us that our children can speak their native language, connect with their cultural heritage, and learn about their faith and values, while also understanding the society they live in and preparing confidently for the future. With this in mind, we organize a wide range of activities, from Turkish language and cultural education to religious education, social events, and community support initiatives.
Our goal is to look towards the future while preserving our roots and values, keeping our culture and faith alive, actively participating in Canadian society, and building strong, healthy, and lasting connections between generations.
